Spectrin Alpha 1 (Erythrocyte Marker)(SPTA1/1832) , 1mg / mL
Spectrin is an actin crosslinking and molecular scaffold protein that links the plasma membrane to the actin cytoskeleton , and functions in the determination of cell shape , arrangement of transmembrane proteins , and organization of organelles. Spectrins function as membrane organizers and stabilizers , composed of non-homologous α andβ chains , which aggregate side-to-side in an anti-parallel fashion to form dimers , tetramers and higher polymers. Spectrin α I and spectrinβ I are present in erythrocytes , whereas spectrin α II (also designated fodrin α) and spectrinβ II (also designated fodrinβ) are present in other somatic cells. The spectrin tetramers in erythrocytes act as barriers to lateral diffusion , but spectrin dimers seem to lack this function.Primary antibodies are available purified , or with a selection of fluorescent CF® Dyes and other labels. CF® Dyes offer exceptional brightness and photostability. Note: Conjugates of blue fluorescent dyes like CF®405S and CF®405M are not recommended for detecting low abundance targets , because blue dyes have lower fluorescence and can give higher non-specific background than other dye colors.
