What are the Selectins?
Selectins are a family of cell surface receptors involved in the initial step of cell
adhesion which occurs during inflammation or cancer metastasis. The selectins facilitate
the recruitment of cells flowing in the blood to the walls of blood vessels through the
interaction of carbohyrates on the cell surface.
