Product Overview : Beta-actin (gene name ACTB) is one of the two nonmuscle cytoskeletal actins. Actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in cell motility, structure and integrity. Alpha actins are a major constituent of the contractile apparatus. In a neoplastic cell line res µLting from treatment of c µLtured human diploid fibroblasts with a chemical mutagen, Leavitt et al. (1982) observed a mutant form of beta actin. Toyama and Toyama (1984) isolated and characterized lines of KB cells resistant to cytochalasin B. They found that one resistant line had an alteration in beta-actin. Such cells bound less cytochalasin B than did parental KB cells. The authors s µggested that the primary site of action of cytochalasin B on cell motility processes is beta-actin.

Product Overview : 8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-2 deoxyguanosine(8-OHdG), is probably the most important product of "oxidative stress” in DNA. Its concentration in DNA is, in fact. a quantitative analysis of the degree of DNA damage that an organism has undergone. Product Overview : 5-Hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (5-HETE) is an endogenous eicosanoid. 5-HETE is an intermediate in the pathway of leukotriene synthesis. In addition, it is a mod µLator of tub µLoglomer µLar feedback. 5-Hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid is a key intermediate of the arachidonate-dependent protective signaling in monocytes/macrophages exposed to peroxynitrite. Peroxynitrite elicited the nuclear membrane translocation of 5-LO and enhanced its enzymatic activity via a mechanism sensitive to low concentrations of inhibitors of 5-LO or the 5-LO-activating protein, as well as to genetic depletion of the latter enzyme. Inhibition of 5-LO activity was invariably associated with the cytosolic localization of PKC, the mitochondrial accum µLation of Bad, and a rapid MPT-dependent necrosis.
